Greetings Rocky Aquatics Families,
Happy Spring! We’re very excited to be returning for our 3rd year as the Aquatics Chairs. We look forward to a successful season made possible by the fantastic Rocky coaching and club staff, and incredible team of volunteers who make it so. As we are counting down the days until the start of the Rocky 2018 season, we want to share some important notes to get started.
COACHES: Coaches Terry Lowe and Noreen Haggerty will be leading us once again. We are still assembling the remainder of the coaching staff and will send an introductory email when we have everything buttoned up.
REGISTRATION: The May issue of the Rocky Pointer will contain online registration for all aquatics activities, as well as program information such as participant ages, etc. If you have any questions, you can email email@example.com. An additional email will be sent reminding you to register, so keep your eye out for it. Especially for new members this year, we will be sending an aquatics "primer" so that you will have all of your questions answered.
WATER POLO: New this year, Rocky will be fielding Junior A&B teams, as well as Midgets A&B teams. Evaluations and rostering will be done during the first week of practice by Head Coach, Sam Bass, in conjunction with Coach Lowe. Once the rosters are submitted to FCSL, they are set for the season. The B teams will be competing in Division 3. These games are already posted on the RPC Aquatics calendar. We are excited because this will ensure that all of our midget & junior players will get plenty of playing time this summer!
SUIT TRY-ON DAY: The Plavoukos Family will host "suit try-on day" Wednesday, May 17 at their home located at 97 Shore Road in Old Greenwich from 1:30 to 5:30 PM. Thanks, Theresa & Matt! We are keeping the same suit design, so if you know your size based on last year, no need to come to the try-on. We will be using an online ordering process this year, through HardCore Sports. More details to follow as the time draws nearer. Pre-teamers and anyone who would like a Rocky suit are welcome to attend the try-on day or to order using the online form. We hope that suits will be delivered before the Blue and White Meet on June 24th. IF you need to try on a suit, please make every effort to come that day, as it is the only day that we will offer try-ons. After that, we will have a limited window to get the suit order in for the start of the season. New members please be sure to attend. Swim caps will only be available at the Gatehouse this year.
CALENDAR: Our 2018 aquatics calendar is already available online, as it has been through the winter. There are a few events I would like to bring your attention to below.
SWIMMER EVALUATION DAY: On Sunday, June 11 at 1:00 Coach Lowe and Coach Haggerty will provide new and old swimmers to Rocky Point the opportunity to be evaluated for swim lesson groups, and team placement.
SYNCHRO SHOW: Back by popular demand the Synchro show will take place on Friday, August 3 at 8:30 PM.
VOLUNTEERS: As you all know, Rocky is only as strong as its member volunteers. Once again this year we will be asking all aquatics families to contribute their time and efforts to making it a great season. We’ll be reaching out regularly with requests. Thank you in advance for your willingness to support our club.
If you have any questions, feel free to send an email.
Thank you and GO ROCKY!
Fionnuala & David Browning,
RPC Aquatics Chairs
