Rocky Point Club Fleet Usage Agreement for Adult Sailing Programs

Rocky Point Club Fleet Usage Agreement for Adult Sailing Programs

Rocky Point Club Inc. maintains that safety is the most important component of the sailing program. The success of the program depends entirely on your ability as the sailor of a boat to determine the boat’s seaworthiness prior to departure, your skill to operate the boat safely even when participating in a class and under the supervision of an instructor, and your management of the boat when derigging it after sailing, ensuring it is properly stored and safe when left on mooring.

The RPC Fleet Usage Agreement for Adult Sailing Programs must be signed by the participating sailor and on file at the Club to use an Ideal as part of class.

CARE AND USE OF THE BOATS:

  1. The sailor is responsible for reporting any damage, missing items, wear and tear on equipment or other concerns to an instructor or the Sailing Program Director.

  2. Boats must be de-rigged properly and any equipment stowed safely. Failure to do so may result in damages to the boat and charges to the sailors last in the boat.

PFDs:

  1. It is the sailor’s responsibility to be sure they are wearing a USCG-approved PFD

DAMAGE TO BOATS / MISSING OR DAMAGED EQUIPMENT:

  1. Sailors are liable for damages to boats.

  2. Damages must be reported IMMEDIATELY to an instructor or the Sailing Program Director. Timely notification of any damage to a boat gives the Club the option to decide whether to submit a claim to its insurance for coverage of its losses.

  3. Missing or damaged equipment must be reported IMMEDIATELY to ensure proper maintenance of the boats and the safety of other sailors.
